SUNAPEE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MEETING
7:00 PM Town Office Meeting Room
Monday, April 19, 2010

Present: Fred Gallup Chairman, William Roach Vice Chairman, Charlotte Brown, Emma Smith, Stephen White, Donna Nashawaty, Town Manager

Also Present: Katie Richardson Intertown Record, Scott Blewitt Recreation Director, Spec Bowers, Peter Urbach, Pat & Gene Hall, Donna Gazelle.

Chairman Gallup opened the meeting at 7:00PM  

Scott Blewitt, Recreation Director
•Scott Blewitt presented the Board with the plan for the new handicapped bathroom at Dewey Beach.
•Scott Blewitt wanted to personally invite the Board to a “Nona” Peirce Memorial Playground public presentation at Sunapee High School on Tuesday, April 27th at 6:00PM.

Selectmen’s Action
•Motion to approve the use of facilities application from Sunapee Police Benevolent Association to use Sunapee Harbor for a 5K road race by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Roach. All in Favor.
 •Motion to approve the use of facilities application from Sunapee Fire Dept. to use Veterans Field for Firefighters Day by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Roach. All in Favor.
•Motion to approve the use of facilities application from Brenda Huff to use Coffin Park and Riverwalk for Fairy House Event by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Brown.  4 in favor 1 abstention.
•Motion to approve the use of facilities application from KCOA to use Dewey Beach for Outdoor Recreation Day by Selectman Smith, seconded by Selectman White. 4 in Favor 1 abstention.
•Motion to approve and sign the MS-2 by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Roach. All in Favor.

Chairman’s Report
Chairman Gallup received an article on speed tables from Bruce McCloy of Central Street, who thought it might be a solution for the speeding problem on Central Street. Donna Nashawaty will discuss the article with Tony Bergeron, Road Agent.  
Selectman White reminded the Board about the 2010 LGC regional dinner on Thursday, April 22nd at Jesse’s in Hanover.
•Selectman White also reminded the Board that the Town Manager review was due.




•Selectman Roach updated the Board on the Tri-Town Joint Assessing meeting that met last Thursday in Newbury. Donna Nashawaty informed the Board that she has received 3 applicants for the resident opening. The Board will invite the applicants to their next meeting. Donna Nashawaty told the Board about the GIS/Mapping Training on Thursday, May 20th at 9:30am in the town meeting room.
•Selectman Roach handed out an email from Barbara Brill of Community Alliance regarding the Sullivan County transportation services (Dial-A-Ride) operating costs, Selectman Roach feels the program is mismanaged and part of the reason the county taxes are horrendous. Selectman Brown wanted to remind the Board that Kearsarge Council on Aging provide volunteer drivers services.
Chairman Gallup wanted to congratulate Matt Gross and Scott Blewitt for receiving the Citizen Award from the Sunapee Fire Department at their annual supper this past Saturday.

Town Manager Report
•Donna Nashawaty gave the Board the details of the covered footbridge that the City of Dover is selling. The consensus of the Board was for Donna Nashawaty to continue talks with the Dover City Manager and that Tony Bergeron and Donna Nashawaty will plan a trip to Dover to view the footbridge.
•Donna received a canned letter from Pat Remick, Coalition Communities Coordinator to be sent to the State Representatives from the Board, urging them to support SB465-Donor Town Legislature. Selectman White will write the letter on behalf of the Board.
•The May 31st BOS meeting falls on the memorial holiday, the Board agreed to meet on Tuesday June 1st.
•Donna Nashawaty presented the 2009 Encumbrances to the Board. Motion to accept the 2009 encumbrances by Selection White, seconded by Selectman Roach. All in Favor.
•Donna Nashawaty told the Board about the Ticket Machine that is being research to sell “dump dollars” at the Transfer Station.    
•Donna Nashawaty reminded the Board that potential tax deeding takes place on May 3rd.
•Donna Nashawaty asked the Board to read the Legislative Bulletin from Friday, April 16th regarding the State Budget.
